Minnetonka is partnering with Me to We to join the beautiful bead work of the Maasai Mamas with the classic hand craftsmanship of their mocs to create a product with meaning. Minnetonka sends the front piece of the shoes to be beaded and then they are sent back to be assembled. This is the first social cause and action Minnetonka has taken where it's incorporated into the product. Each pair is packaged with a unique number that consumers can track online to see how their purchase is making an impact.</div><div><br /></div>

<div><br /></div><div><i><b>The story behind the Me to We Maasai Mocs</b></i></div><div><b>Me to We Artisans</b> works with more than 800 Maasai Mamas to craft the hand-beaded designs for Minnetonka.</div><div><br /></div><div>The Maasai Mamas who work with Me to We Artisans bead using art forms passed down from mother to daughter through the generations, turning their traditional handiwork into a livelihood. Each woman is empowered to build up her savings and do things she never would have believed possible: improve her home, buy food and medicine for her family, send her children to school and believe that her voice and skills have value. The Mamas are able to earn twice as much as before they worked with Me to We Artisans–without giving up their traditional way of life.</div><div align="baseline"><br /></div><div><img src="/images/editorials/1_645_AV_minnetonka2.png?16" /></div><div><br /></div><div><b>Me to We Success Stories</b></div><div><br /></div><div>Meet Maasai Mama - Toti</div><div ><br /></div><div>For ten years, mama Toti dreamed of owning a goat as a source of milk and income for her four children in the remote Maasai Mara. Then she joined a community beading group for Me to We Artisans and received financial literacy training. With her first paycheck, she bought two goats. As her herd grew to twelve goats, so did her confidence. By earning a living beading with traditional Maasai techniques, Mama Toti has not only improved her life and the lives of her children, she stands tall and proud as an example of what women can do.</div><div align="baseline"><br /></div><div><img src="/images/editorials/1_645_AV_minnetonka3.png?261" /></div><div><br /></div><div><b><i><a href="http://www.journeys.com/brand_listing.aspx?c=1103">Shop the full Minnetonka collection</a> at Journeys.com!</i></b></div><div align="baseline"><br /></div><div><img src="/images/editorials/1_645_AV_minnetonka4.jpg?14" /></div><div align="baseline"><br /></div><div><img src="/images/editorials/1_645_AV_minnetonka5.png?498" /></div>
